10 Great Northern Ireland Walks to Recharge the Batteries

1) Castlewellan Forest Park and Peace Maze

2) Cuilcagh Mountain

Situated among Fermanagh’s well-known Lakelands, Cuilcagh Mountain – the county’s highest mountain - is a favourite among keen walkers. Not too far from the mountain also lies the impressive Marble Arch caves and beautiful Lough Erne.

3) Sperrin Mountains

According to Walk NI, the Sperrin Mountain range affords 40 miles of landscape, including 10 summits above 500m, with the highest of the range, Sawel Mountain, peaking at 678m (2,224ft). The area is a wondrous and magical expanse that needs to be traversed to be believed.

4) Downhill and Benone

5) Causeway Coast

Thousands visit from around the world to experience the Causeway Coast and its breath-taking views and attractions, and a great way to explore this part of Northern Ireland is of course by foot. From Ballintoy to Bushmills, walkers can enjoy trails through beaches, fields and along cliffs high above, all whilst gawping out over the many spectacular views.

6) Slieve Donard

Any of the walks among the Mourne Mountains are an absolute treat to walk through, however, it is the highest peak, Slieve Donard, which is destined to truly take one’s breath away with its stunning views, not to mention the incredible feeling when you have finally reached the top.

7) Cavehill

The Glens of Antrim are a joy to explore and particularly Glenariff Forest Park with its beautiful woodland trails and fantastic viewpoints of the glens, the coast and, on a clear day, even as far as the Mull of Kintrye in distant Scotland.
