Top Tips to Unwind and Feel Good This Summer

Top Tips to Unwind and Feel Good This Summer

Summer is here and as much as we all have good intentions to lie low and enjoy the better weather and longer days, there are still demands on our time that will make it difficult to enjoy it as much as we would like to.

To ensure you make the most out of the summer season, we have pulled together our top tips to help you unwind over the coming weeks.

5 Tips to Unwinding This Summer

A Good Start to the Day

The brighter and earlier mornings provide great opportunities to get your day off to a good start.  This could include a simple Pilates session on the lawn; a five minute read as you sip on your morning coffee in the sun; or walking to work whilst listening to your favourite podcast. Set aside a few minutes each morning to help clear your mind and begin the day in the right way.

Regular Water Breaks

Filling up on water is a great way to stay hydrated and energised, especially during the warmer months. Drinking at least six to eight glasses of water a day is the usual recommended amount and, whether you’re at work or at home, keeping a bottle close at hand is a great way to ensure you keep filling up on the good stuff throughout the day.

Enjoy the Outdoors

Getting out of the house and making the most out of the outdoors during the summer is a must.  This could involve going for a walk in your local park at the weekend, having a BBQ with friends, or visiting one of Northern Ireland’s National Trust sites.

Healthy Meals

Summer is a great time of year to load up on healthier foods such as salads and fresh fruits, and you will undoubtedly feel much better for it.  Use a blender to mix up a summer berry smoothie or prepare a nutritious salad for your lunch.  For some healthy breakfast ideas read Belfast blogger Aly Harte’s 20 Healthy Breakfast Recipes.

Read a book

Unwind with summer reading

Set yourself a challenge of reading at least one book over the summer so you are guaranteed to have some downtime.   On a sunny day, take your book to a quiet spot in the garden or sit outside your favourite café for a few hours of escapism.  If you have children you could even set the whole family a goal of reading a book each.
