1) Botanic Gardens, Co. Antrim

Situated between Queen’s University and the Ulster Museum, Botanic Gardens is a wonderful sanctuary and place to picnic. Sit among one of the garden’s many green areas or rose gardens after a wander through the stunning Palm House.

2) Crom, Co. Fermanagh

The wonderful surroundings of Crom and its beautiful nature reserve provide plenty of opportunity

to picnic and soak up the outdoors. Take for instance the views overlooking Lough Erne and the Old

Castle, or quiet spots among the park’s peaceful woodlands.

 

3) Rowallane Garden, Co. Down

The many acres of gardens at Rowallane Garden are a treat for picnickers. After exploring the gardens and its beautiful array of plants and flowers, sit down and enjoy your picnic on the grass or along one of the garden’s benches. And, if it rains, there is always the garden’s bandstand to take shelter in!

4) Downhill Demesne, Co. Derry

Along the north coast is the stunning Downhill Desmene and its beautiful trail that leads through forest, cliff tops and towards the 18th-century Mussenden Temple. After a leisurely walk, choose from many picturesque spots to rest and enjoy a well-deserved picnic at. 

5) Lough Navar Forest Park, Co. Fermanagh

Part of the Marble Arch Caves Geopark, Lough Navar Forest Park is another gem to be found within County Fermanagh. The park has endless places to stop for a picnic, whilst soaking up magnificent views across Lough Navar and other lakes situated within the park. Not too far away are also great picnic spots at BlackSlee Waterfall and Cuilcagh Mountain Park.

6) Crawfordsburn Country Park, Co. Down

Crawfordsburn Country Park is a long-standing favourite among families and picnickers. The Park, situated between Bangor and Holywood, has wonderful coastal walks, wooded areas and beaches to stop and enjoy a picnic from.

7) Lagan Meadows, Co. Antrim

Situated in South Belfast, the Lagan Meadows are a great place to escape for a picnic. The meadows and seated areas along the Lagan River provide ample opportunity to pitch up and enjoy a picnic, especially after a long bike ride along the towpath!
