Electric Ireland Billing Queries
My bill seems higher/lower than normal, what should I do?
Your bill could be higher or lower due to any of the factors below,Estimated bill
If you see an 'E' beside your meter reading on your bill, then you've received an estimated bill.NIE Networks read your meter 4 times a year. Sometimes NIE Networks may not be able to access your meter so they must estimate your usage. When we get a reading from them, we will adjust your bill, but you can submit a meter reading any time by contacting our customer service team on 0345 600 5335.
Actual reading
Previous bills have been estimated and your current bill is based on an actual reading. If your estimated bills were lower than your actual consumption, this bill will level out the balance. How many days is your bill for?
Your bill is normally issued every 91 days, but sometimes this can change. You should check the number of days on this bill compared with your last bill.Have you used more electricity than usual?
You need to look at the units you used on this bill compared to your bill this time last year. Keep in mind that you’ll use more energy during winter months compared with summer months. Our online billing facility will help you do this. Our prices may have changed
Your electricity prices are subject to change but we will inform you 21 days in advance. For further information on billing please see our Code of Practice on Billing for our residential customers.
